Hitchhiking out
Northwest towards Gümüşhane, Trabzon
To go in the direction of Gümüşhane or Trabzon, you need to get onto the Gümüşhane Road. You can walk about 1 km from the city center to reach this road, or you can take the Toki-Hospital minibus and start hitchhiking anywhere along the Gümüşhane Road.
South towards Erzurum
To go towards Aşkale or Erzurum, you need to get onto the Erzurum Road. You can take a Baykent minibus, get off at the end of Baykent, and begin hitchhiking on the Erzurum Road.
West towards Erzincan, Sivas, Ankara
To go towards Demirözü, Köse, Kelkit, Erzincan, Şebinkarahisar, Sivas, or Ankara, you need to get onto the Erzincan Road. You can reach it by walking about 1 km from the city center or by taking a Toki-Hospital minibus and getting off at the junction in front of Toki, then start hitchhiking anywhere on the Erzincan Road.
Although this road is the shortest way to Erzincan, Sivas, and Ankara, you may want to consider other routes because the traffic here is quite light and hitchhiking may take a long time. For Erzincan and Sivas, it might be more practical to follow the southern directions and go via Aşkale, even if it adds distance. To go to Ankara, you can use either the Aşkale-Erzincan-Sivas or the Gümüşhane-Giresun routes.
Northeast towards İspir
To go towards Pazaryolu, İspir, Çaykara, or Rize, you need to get onto the İspir Road. You can take a Kaleardı minibus and begin hitchhiking from further along the İspir Road.
The Bayburt-İspir Road has very little traffic, and the Bayburt-Çaykara-Of Road has even less. Both routes are generally not suitable for hitchhiking unless absolutely necessary. For Rize, it's recommended to follow the northwest directions via Gümüşhane and Trabzon instead.
