Saint Barthélemy is an island in the eastern Caribbean Sea and an overseas department of France. To the north-west lies Saint Martin, the south Saint Kitts and Nevis as well as Saba and St. Eustatius.
Like France, Saint Barthélemy is an easy island to get a lift although hitching is not common. The majority of the population living there are from Europe and North America. Saint Barthélemy is unique in the Caribbean as no slave population lived here more than a few years as the island has no natural water source, is quite rugged and very dry.
There is a ferry is Saint Martin from Gustavia.
Gustavia is the best place to hitch onto boats.
